Final blog post -- due Friday noon

We have watched David Puttnam talk about the media and ask if it has a moral imperative to create informed citizens, to support democracy. What do you think? Does the media have a responsibility to address important issues, to educate the public and attack those in the wrong? If so, how could this be done?

Does violence in movies need to be more tightly controlled? We already have a rating system. Should more be done?

Blog 3 (due midnight Sunday 6/25)

Large corpporations that own many companies other than newspapers might have a tendency to make purely business decisions that affect journalistic ethical standards. A conglomerate that has entertainment holdings might use the newspaper to promote its other businesses, or try to keep the papers they own from writing negative stories about them. So should we be afraid of conglomerates?

What is the fundamental issue of media impact? In other words, do you believe that media influences individuals, society and culture? If so, to what extent does it do so? How is the influence for you, if it is, from society overall?
