Does violence in movies need to be more tightly controlled? We already have a rating system. Should more be done?

Large corpporations that own many companies other than newspapers might have a tendency to make purely business decisions that affect journalistic ethical standards. A conglomerate that has entertainment holdings might use the newspaper to promote its other businesses, or try to keep the papers they own from writing negative stories about them. So should we be afraid of conglomerates?

What is the fundamental issue of media impact? In other words, do you believe that media influences individuals, society and culture? If so, to what extent does it do so? How is the influence for you, if it is, from society overall?

In 100 words, or thereabout, discuss the following: Why is media important in society? Why do we study it? Which medium (types of media) could you live without? Could you not live without?
