Why is media important in society? Why do we study it? Which medium (types of media) could you live without? Could you not live without?

Media is important to society because it has become our immediate go-to for information. News can now be broadcasted directly through our hand-held cell phones. It's important because the population as a whole now has instant access to information that could potentially threat, or save us, and we can plan accordingly. We study it so we can understand the transformation, growth, and decline of all mediums of media.
ReplyDeleteI could live without Twitter being a medium for information. It isn't reliable and it causes too much drama. I like to rely on the TV for news, because it seems like it is the most trustworthy source for reliable information (even though they get it wrong sometimes too). But if I don't have access to the TV, Facebook comes in handy sometimes.
Some excellent points, but remember that media been an integral part of our society for a very long time. Now, however, the speed in which the information is transmitted, consumed and passed on appears to be more problematic.
DeleteAlso, twitter does not generate the news, it is simply a means for transmitting and many media outlets do use it to get tips and leads on potential stories and as way to get their stories to the public.
Media is important in the society because it influence in so many ways the society. Society is constantly interacting with social media because it all around us. This situation is good for people because they use it to keep in touch with friends and family by sharing experiences with pictures and videos.
ReplyDeleteWe study media because the media help us understand the working of our world. It interprets our world, its value and ideas to us. Media helps us define how we communicate with each other. It helps as understand life by presenting it as larger-than-life.
As far as I am concern, I can live without social media even if it would be difficult at the beginning but it will be ok after years. I cannot live without mass media because as we can see, mass media helps us understand what is happen in the world. Provide us information around the world as soon as possible. Make us know far from your country even if you did not travel yet.
Nowadays, media is important because it helps people get information using television, radio and also newspapers. However,we have to be aware that the information influence our lives.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, media is all around us and impact our way to view the world. With the access to internet and all social network people interact with friend and family by videos or pictures and get information (real or not) through mediums. Even if media is important in our society, people has to be careful about what they see.
We're studying media because it's a big part of our lives and environment and we have to understand how it works in order to keep the essential when using it.
I could life without all media except radio, in my opinion there are more valuable information to get.

DeleteThere are many reasons why media is important in our society. Media is the platform from which we communicate - without it, hardly anything we do or experience would be the same. With today's technology, we can communicate with anyone/anyone can contact us almost immediately. This is important for many reasons, but especially during urgent or emergency situations. The media is also important because it allows us to be updated on the news anywhere we are located, thanks to inventions like cell phones, radio, television, and the internet.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, one reason we study media is to learn about how our society communicates. As far as mediums go, I could live without certain social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram because I don't use those often or at all. However, I probably couldn't live without my phone in general or the television.

Media is important for a variety of reasons. Media is used by a lot of people to communicate, and without it we would be ignorant to a lot of things that go on in our world. I happen to use media as a way to entertain myself, I watch TV, listen to music and use it for school as well. One form of media I could live without is social media. Maybe I haven't done a very good job of choosing who to follow, but I could live without it because the negatives of social media seem to out weigh the positives. A media I couldn't live without would have to be the radio. I love to listen to music, I honestly don't know where the world would be without music and I don't want to know what the world would be without it.

Media in is important for a variety of reasons, the top reason being that the majority of elements of today's society is centered around it. Without media, nothing would be what it is currently. Media consists of TV, newspapers, magazines, radio, and even social media, which I'm sure most of us would be lost without. Media is how we as a society stay connected with one another, and it allows us to reach an audience we'd otherwise not have if they weren't next door or down the street. For example, most businesses are promoted through the media. Otherwise, how would we know about it? It's how we are updated on what's going on all around us. We're a society of stalkers, we always want to be in the know, whether it's with basic news, our friends, or our family members.

A form of media I couldn't live without is radio. Music is life.
