I think that if we did something about it now, after we have had so much violence in the media for so long, it could cause a problems. I know a lot of people that enjoy movies that have violence in them; for example, Saving Private Ryan, The Equalizer, The Purge. Violence in the media has been around for decades, and it has a certain level of entertainment to its viewers, so I think it's just part of life now.
If we could crack down on subjecting it to young underage people it would help society in the way of always blaming the media for teens outbursts. However, until that happens, media is "at fault" for allowing young people to see such violence so easily.
Violence in movies must be fully controlled. While not marginalizing people who love movies, if possible a system should be created that will allow them to watch. It may be necessary to create an adult account so that they can watch their movies in all their splendor because the most important is the children. The films generally carry a message. They are sources of entertainment, counseling, education and learning. For a child who is still in the learning phase, wanting to imitate the actors will necessarily have an aggressive character and influence his behavior in the future. Neither more nor less, we find today in the four corners of the world with violence repetition. I do not say that it can stop but as a source of publicity, movies can sensitize people to be more flexible and less violent. Based on this, violence in films must be more closely controlled.
Over the years, movies have become more violent. Indeed, from what we are currently observing, violence in movies is neither about to stop nor decrease. The opposite is more likely to happen. Should violence in movies be more highly controlled? As far as I am concerned, I think it should. By always looking these violence, the persons watching them start to see them as almost a ‘normal thing’ to the point where when real violence are happening around them, they are not showing much empathy. Because they are getting comfortable and accepting more and more “Violence”. Violence in movies simply dehumanize people by making them less sensitive to violence in the real world. Furthermore, children are the most affected by this problem because they are more susceptible to think violence is a normal thing than adults. According to me, violence in movies destroy the children from a psychologic point of view. However, the movie industry with the idea of rating system is objective, as they prevent about the content of their movies (brutal violence, sexual content, etc.). According to me, the rating system is good. Parents or adults must just more consider the movies rating system, or even video games rating system.
In my opinion, violence in movies is already controlled enough as it can be in today's society. With the current rating system in place, I personally do not see the need for the violence in movies to be more controlled than that. I say this for several reasons. One, I think the rating system is appropriate/accurate. Two, there is already a lot of violence in films (especially in the horror genre), so there is not much else that can be done at this point as far as controlling violence goes. And my final reason, the rating system is only responsible for so much. We can decide what we choose to expose ourselves to. Also, parents are responsible for what their child watches, so it is also up to them to control the amount/type of violence their child is exposed to.
I honestly believe you cant control violence anymore than you already do in movies. Even if we attempted to do it, how could we control it?By making all action movies rated R ? What would be the motive behind doing? It would be pointless anyway if young kids have to look on the news and hear about people getting murdered on the daily. They still live in a society that media and technology seem to be growing everyday so they'll still be exposed to the things people post on the internet. I honestly feel violence in movies is the least of our issues.
I don't think that violence in movies needs to be controlled any more than it currently is. In my opinion, the rating system is perfect just the way it is. Let's be honest, the rating system is more of an option to follow rather than something that is highly tightly controlled. There are children under 13 that still tune in to PG-13 shows, movies. Same goes for R rated movies and shows. I don't think the rating system is something we can control or force more than it already is. Also, sometimes violence in movies is necessary. As a film minor, I know that what's shown in a film is apart of telling the story. Honestly, I agree that only parents can be held accountable for what their children are exposed to and adults, same for themselves. If violence is something you don't like to see, don't watch it.
What is the fundamental issue of media impact? In other words, do you believe that media influences individuals, society and culture? If so, to what extent does it do so? How is the influence for you, if it is, from society overall?
Large corpporations that own many companies other than newspapers might have a tendency to make purely business decisions that affect journalistic ethical standards. A conglomerate that has entertainment holdings might use the newspaper to promote its other businesses, or try to keep the papers they own from writing negative stories about them. So should we be afraid of conglomerates?

I agree that it is much easier, but don't the parents and adults have some responsibility?

ReplyDeletegood points, and I agree that parents must take more responsibility.
